WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director Terry Martin today announced a new initiative called WOMEN IN THEATRE. The event will be presented under the auspices of Women of WaterTower Theatre and it is co-chaired by Karol Omlor, Suzanne Palmlund and Andrea Redmon. The first lecture, which will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm (with a post-lecture reception in the lobby with the artists), is in the Main Space at WaterTower Theatre featuring women stage directors. The lecture will be moderated by the Dallas Observer's Arts and Culture editor Lauren Smart, and features stage directors Phyllis Cicero (Jubilee Theatre), Cheryl Denson (Uptown Players), Kelsey Leigh Ervi (WaterTower Theatre), Katherine Owens (Undermain Theatre) and Susan Sargeant (Wingspan Theatre).

Tickets to the lecture are $20 per person ($10 to "theatre industry" professionals/not available online) and are on sale now at 972-450-6232 or online at www.watertowertheatre.org. All ticket proceeds go to support WaterTower Theatre's artistic and education programs. The ticket includes the lecture and a reception with the artists afterwards. Tickets are on sale now.

The objective of the event is to explore challenges, issues and opportunities women working in the theatre face. For the inaugural lecture, Women in Theatre will present a forum featuring several local stage directors. Each of the directors will bring personal insights, from a uniquely female perspective, about their experiences navigating the often challenging world of theatre. The goal is for Women in Theatre to become an annual event hosted by Women of WaterTower Theatre.

The Women in Theatre committee includes Co-Chairs Karol Omlor, Suzanne Palmlund, Andrea Redmon and members April Bosworth, Kelsey Leigh Ervi, Terry Martin and Greg Patterson.
