Rover Dramawerks is pleased to present the charming musical Little Mary Sunshine, Book, Music and Lyrics by Ray Besoyan, opening on Thursday, July 14. Performances will be at the Courtyard Theater, 1509 H Avenue in Plano (next to the Cox Building Playhouse), continuing through July 30, with shows on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., and an additional matinee performance on Saturday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m.

Little Mary Sunshine is a charming musical spoof in the vein of Gilbert and Sullivan. With a sweet and lovely heroine and her "naughty" sidekick, stalwart Forest Rangers, a chorus of simpering school girls, and a villainous Indian, it pokes fun at the overly earnest heroes and heroines, dastardly villains and every coquettish soubrettes of bygone eras. Containing thundering choruses, schmaltzy waltzes, lilting duets, and deliberately corny songs, it will quickly win your heart. One of the most successful ever Off Broadway stage shows!

Elizabeth Saxe stars as Little Mary, who is wooed by Captain Big Jim Warrington, played by Blake Rodgers, and Caitlin Mills plays Mary's saucy maid Nancy Twinkle, who is wooed by Corporal Billy Jester, played by Chester Maple. Mary's adopted father, ChieF Brown Bear, is played by Ben Westfried, the trusty Indian guide Fleet Foot is played by Donald Cook, and the evil Yellow Feather is played by Rick Blodgett. Visiting Little Mary's Colorado Inn are the once famous opera singer Mme. Ernestine Von Liebedich and former military General, Oscar Fairfax, along with a group of lovely ladies from Eastchester Finishing School played by Tiffany Hillert, Kelsey Kruse, Dusty Reasons, Jad Saxton, Jennifer Taylor, and Amy Wells and a group of handsome Forest Rangers played by Eli Aalderink, Giovanny Arcibar, Matthew Clark, Ruben Rosales, Michael Speck, and Bishop Wash.

Sue Birch directs and acts as sound designer, with music direction by Mary Medrick and choreography by Larry M. Jansson. Jill Stephens is Assistant Director/Stage Manager. Abigail Kipp is set designer, Jesse Thaxton is costume designer, and Don Hall is hair/makeup designer. Brooks Powers is lighting designer and Robin Coulonge is properties designer.

Little Mary Sunshine is the fifth show in Rover Dramawerks' 11th Season. Tickets are $18.00 on Thursdays and matinees and $22.00 on Fridays and Saturdays and may be ordered online at www.roverdramawerks.com. Thursday, July 14 is Preview Night, and all seats are "pay-what-you-can" at the door.

Following the performances of Little Mary Sunshine on Friday, July 22 and Friday, July 29, Rover Late Night is pleased to bring back Graphic Novelties - stagings of classic comic books. In keeping with the "spoof of Gilbert and Sullivan" idea, this Graphic Novelties will be a spoof of the classic 1960s Batman television show, featuring Batman, Robin and Catwoman. Graphic Novelties will be at 10:30 p.m. and is free for those attending the show that night; otherwise just $5.00.
