SEUSSICAL JR. by Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, directed by Andy Baldwin with musical direction by Lynn Ambrose and choreographed by Stephanie Butler, will be presented by KD Studio and Imagination Players, April 25-28, 2013.

The cast and crew of Imagination Players have spent the last 3 months inhabiting a "Seussian" world in an attempt to capture the innocence, depth, and fun of Dr. Seuss' beloved books. A top-notch two totally different, but equally brilliant, casts are complimented by an otherworldly urban set, eye-popping costumes, and props that look like they were sprung from the mind of Seuss himself.

Seussical, Jr. borrows its plot directly from the characters and occurrences in various Dr. Seuss children's books and is a musical extravaganza filled with toe-tapping tunes. In fact, Seussical, Jr. integrates the storylines from more than 20 of Seuss' works, using each tiny town and bizarre species of creature as inspiration. The result is a production that takes the audience on an unpredictable ride through the depths of fantasy, from the miniature houses of Whoville to the wild greenery of the Jungle of Nool.

This collaboration of wonderfully beautiful music and a full gamut of recognizable characters creates a one-of-a-kind experience. "This is a show for every person of every age," exclaims Andy Baldwin, the show's director. "It is fun, edgy, poignant, irreverent and beautiful all at the same time. Audiences are going to go wild over this show!"

While the show's actors drive the storyline, Seussical, Jr. achieves equal success in the execution of its technical aspects. Stylized movement and dance coordinated by Choreographer Stephanie Butler ignite numbers like "How Lucky You Are," "Solla Solew," and "It's Possible," and morph the show's actors into jungle creatures, tiny people, fish, and circus performers. Musical director Lynn Ambrose is responsible for the show's impressive display of vocal talent and for tackling a potpourri of musical styles from funk to jazz to Tin Pan Alley.

Written by Steven Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, the same Tony-winning team that penned Ragtime and Once On This Island, Seussical Jr brings Dr. Seuss' characters to life on the stage.

The creative team includes Andy Baldwin as Director, Lynn Ambrose as Music Director and Stephanie Butler as Choreographer. Butler has previously worked with KD Studio and Imagination Players as a performer and choreographer. Costume Design is by Ryan Matthieu Smith.

Performances take place at KD Studio Theatre, Trinity River Arts Center, 2600 Stemmons Frwy, Suite 180, Dallas, TX, April 25-28, playing Thursday through Saturday at 7:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 PM. Tickets: $8 Students; $15 General Admission. For tickets, visit brownpapertickets.com.
