Arkansas, present day. The estranged members of the Lafayette family gather at their late father’s crumbling plantation to prepare for the estate sale. But decades of resentment have a way of bubbling to the surface, and a shocking discovery in the piles of clutter sends them spiraling as they confront repressed histories, regrets and each other. Winner of the Obie Award for Best American Play, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ crackling comedic drama is called “subversively original…remarkable and devious” by The New York Times.

February 04, 2023 The centerpiece of SCR's 2022-23 season, 'Voices of America,' runs through Feb. 26 on the Segerstrom Stage. It encompasses two plays: Lillian Helman's The Little Foxes and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' Appropriate. Each play will take the stage four times a week, alternating performances. June 28, 2022 South Coast Repertory announced today its 2022-23 season, which centers around a bold rotating repertory of two plays written 80 years apart with common themes—one an American classic, the other a contemporary hit—one world premiere musical, one world premiere drama, a play with music featuring the hits of Nina Simone and a new take on a children's classic.About the Theatre
