The Sherman Playhouse is proud to announce its upcoming autumn production of the classic thriller GASLIGHT, by PatRick Hamilton.

Set in 1880's London, GASLIGHT tells the demoniacal story of the Manninghams of Angel Street. Under the guise of kindliness, handsome Mr. Manningham is torturing his wife into madness. He accuses her of petty goings-on in the home that she is unaware of, and since Mrs. Manningham's mother died of insanity, Mrs. Manningham slowly convinces herself that she is also going out of her mind. While her husband is out of the house, a benign police inspector visits her and a series of terrifying truths begin to unfold, setting off a life-and-death game of cat-and-mouse.

The play was the basis for two films, most notably the 1944 movie starring Ingrid Bergman, Charles Boyer, and Joseph Cotten.

The cast features some of the region's finest actors: Katya Collazo (Manchester), Viv Berger (Southbury), Steve Manzino (Holmes, NY) and Sheila Echevarria and Vicki Sosbe (both New Milford).

GASLIGHT is under the direction of John Taylor of Sherman.

GASLIGHT runs September 18,19 25,26,27 October 2,3 9,10. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. Fridays & Saturdays, with a 2:00 p.m. Sunday matinee on September 27. Tickets for all shows are $20.00 for general admission.
