The Bard is on tap! Elm Shakespeare Company invites the community to play a part - or two - in a Play Reading Circle of "Much Ado About Nothing", 2-6pm on Sunday, April 12, at Trinity Bar and Restaurant 157 Orange Street.

An exuberant Shakespearean romp, "Much Ado" follows the antics of two pairs of lovers, plots to keep one apart and bring the other together, the exploits of a treacherous villain, and the antics of a dubious constable.

In "circle-style" readings, parts are assigned by the seating order at the table and held for only one scene at a time. Elm actor and Resident Teaching Artist, Jeremy Funke, will read Benedick, and Associate Artistic Director, Raphael Massie, Leonato, but all other parts are up for grabs around the table, including Beatrice, Hero, Claudia, Don Pedro, Don John, Ursula, Dogberry, and the rest of the cast of characters.

Copies of the text will be available to share, but all guests are welcome to bring their favorite collected works, dog eared paperbacks, or tablet apps.

Participation in the reading is strongly encouraged, but by no means required, for those who prefer to watch and listen - though this is less of a performance than a casual engagement with and shared appreciation for the timeless work of William Shakespeare.

Jeremy Funke will moderate discussion between acts (or after particular scenes) to make the work accessible for all. Guests can takes breaks from the action to partake of Trinity Bar and Restaurant's excellent food and drinks menu.

A donation of $5 to cover the essentials is encouraged.
