Jaja’s African Hair Braiding brings the vibrant world of a Harlem salon to life at The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio from March 5 to March 22, 2026. The production, directed by Shanelle Marie and featuring Lachandra Baker as Jaja, follows West African immigrant stylists as they navigate dreams and challenges in a new country during a single electrifying summer day. Celebrated playwright Jocelyn Bioh's work focuses on themes of community and the experiences of Black womanhood, blending humor and poignant storytelling. The production aims to foster audience engagement through post-show discussions and community events curated by Baker.
