VOLTA by Cirque du Soleil at the Meadowlands is Spectacular

Get your tickets, get excited, and experience VOLTA, the Cirque du Soleil production being performed under the big top at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford through Sunday, May 6. This is a show that will please people of all ages with captivating staging and of course, the troupe's unparalleled talents. VOLTA is Cirque du Soleil's newest show that was launched in April 2017 in Montreal. After visiting three cities in Canada, it played engagements in Miami and Tampa before coming to the New York metropolitan area this spring. Following the East Rutherford engagement, it will begin performances on May 17 on Long Island in Uniondale, NY.

VOLTA explores ideas that celebrate identity at a time when technology can be an isolating factor for people. In the show, a young man named WAZ is ashamed of who he is because of his differences. He becomes a contestant on the "Mr. Wow Show" in search of fame but winds up exploring his own unique qualities. While VOLTA is incredibly entertaining, it also has positive and important themes that will resonate with audiences. There are many distinctive characters that round out the narrative including The Greys, The Freespirits, Ela, and The Judges.

The creators of VOLTA were inspired by spirit of adventure from the world of street sports and acrobatics. This dynamic spirit is wonderfully represented in the show's acts with rope skipping, roller-skating, cycling, acrobatics, trampoline work, juggling, and a great variety of dance styles.

Unbelievable feats of athleticism, precision and grace define the performances in VOLTA and each of the acts effectively highlights the show's themes. Thrilling scenes include Meeting Ela-Precision Walk, Roller Skates, and Hand to Hand on Unicycle; Guardian Angel in the City-Acro Lamp; Rise & Shine-Trampowall; Intervention-Swiss Rings/Bungee; Urban Jungle-Shape Diving; Mirage-Hair Suspension; Breakthrough-Contemporary Dance; and Momentum-BMX.

Fabulous set design with a granite quarry landscape, elaborate costuming, dazzling lighting, fascinating special effects, and a moving musical score brings VOLTA to life. Compliments all around to the creative team that makes VOLTA shine bright.
