From the playwright:This play about the consequences of making the decision to downsize as a result of advancing age and the oncoming economic limitations. It investigates how it forces people to change when they may not want to spiritually and emotionally. It illustrates the way in which friends and family are involved in the decision process and how it touches everyone personally. It examines the loss involved in moving from a long-established home and neighborhood. It demonstrates the void downsizing can create in other peoples lives. It also speaks to the way it such a change can cause conflict and resentment in a long-standing marital relationship. THE DOWNSIDE is about more than a garage sale and moving to an apartment.
