Cleveland State University Department of Theatre and Dance presentsBLITHE SPIRITOctober 21 - 31, 2021Written by Noel CowardDirected by Russ BorskiThe CSU theatre season opens on the Outcalt Theatre stage with the wit of Noel Cowards play BLITHE SPIRIT, running October 21-31, 2021. This classic comedy has been a favorite in the West End as well as Broadway stages for decades. This updated version of the show is a new adaptation that will take place in present day Long Island, says Russ Borski, associate professor of theatre, who has adapted the script and will direct the production. The play, performed in two acts, offers up fussy, cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine, re-married but haunted by the ghost of his late first wife, the clever and insistent Elvira who is called up by a visiting happy medium, Madame Arcati. Worlds collide, personalities clash and Charlies current wife Ruth accidentally joins forces with Elvira in the afterlife. These two blithe spirits haunt their hapless husband into perpetuity. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021: American Sign Language supported performance. Join us as a sign language interpreter will sign along with this performance.
