Psychological Illusionist Joshua Seth returns to Playhouse Square

Say the name "Joshua Seth" and many Kent, OH residents will tell you that he is the hometown boy who made good in the entertainment world, while adult fans of animation will say Joshua is best known as the villainous voice of Tetsuo, the starring role in the animated masterpiece, Akira (2001). (He also voiced the evil Young Knives in Trigun and the heroic Elk in Arc the Lad.) On the other hand, Playhouse Square theatergoers will tell you that Joshua Seth is the amazing psychological illusionist who has entertained them with his one-man show "Beyond Belief". 
Verb Ballets Celebrates the Life of Ian Horvath

Verb Ballets, Northeast Ohio's premiere contemporary ballet company, celebrates the life and work of Ian Horvath (1943-1990) on February 9, 2019 in an evening titled Dance Legacy: Celebrating the Life of Ian Horvath. The three-part performance will honor Horvath's impact on dance in Cleveland and will recognize his work as an AIDS advocate. Tragically, he lost his battle to AIDS at the age of 46.
Family Night Announced At The Canton Museum Of Art

Kent State's Kent Keyboard Series To Present A Folk-infused Chamber Music Concert Feb. 24

The Kent Keyboard Series continues its 2018-2019 season with pianist Donna Lee, Steinway Artist, and professor and coordinator of piano at Kent State University, on Sun., Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. in Ludwig Recital Hall. She will be joined by clarinetist Daniel Gilbert, a faculty member at the prestigious University of Michigan, and violinist Miho Hashizume, a member of the renowned Cleveland Orchestra and holder of the Theodore Rautenberg Endowed Chair. Kent State's Ludwig Recital Hall is at 1325 Theatre Drive in the Center for the Performing Arts on the Kent Campus. Ample free and handicap accessible parking is available.
The Cleveland Orchestra Extends Vinay Parameswaran's Contract As Assistant Conductor & Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra Music Director

The Cleveland Orchestra has announced an extension of Assistant Conductor Vinay Parameswaran's contracts. The agreement continues Parameswaran's tenure with the Orchestra for two years through the 2020-21 season. He will continue to hold the Elizabeth Ring and William Gwinn Mather Assistant Conductor Endowed Chair. A concurrent agreement extends Parameswaran's role as Music Director of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra through the same period.
Canton Museum of Art Installing State of the Art Storage Systems with Support from Local Foundations

While the Canton Museum of Art (CMA) is currently showcasing more than 200 major works from its Permanent Collection in the exhibition "In The Parisian Salon," featuring artists such as John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, and Edward Hopper, something even more spectacular is occurring behind the scenes. To ensure these and other works are preserved and protected for all to enjoy for years to come, CMA is renovating its collection storage areas to install new floor-mounted art storage racks. This new system will provide heightened protection to some of the Museum's largest and most important works, while increasing storage capacity and allowing greater ease of movement and safety for curatorial staff when handling the art.

Kent State University Orchestra To Feature Winners Of The Annual Concerto Competition

The Kent State University Orchestra presents its fourth subscription series concert of the 2018-2019 season on Sun., Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. in the University Auditorium at Cartwright Hall. Joining the orchestra are the student winners of the annual concerto competition: Heather Morrison, undergraduate soprano, and Vicky Hei Man Tong, graduate pianist. Cartwright Hall is at 650 Hilltop Drive in Kent, Ohio. Free parking is available off of Terrace Drive.
