Cleveland Play House's (CPH) smart and sexy comedy Venus in Fur, currently running in the Second Stage at PlayhouseSquare, has extended its run for three additional performances due to high audience demand. The production, which was previously scheduled to close on Nov. 24th, will now have additional performances on Friday, Nov. 29th at 7:30 p.m. and two performances on Saturday, Nov. 30th at 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. respectively. This Tony-nominated play by celebrated playwright David Ives is directed by CPH's newly appointed artistic director, Laura Kepley. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased by calling 216-241-6000 or by visiting www.clevelandplayhouse.com. This production of Venus in Fur is sponsored by Ambiance, The Store for Lovers.

Director and CPH artistic director Laura Kepley muses: "I am delighted that Northeastern Ohio audiences are joining us for this suspenseful, funny and racy battle of the sexes. I love hearing audiences gasping and laughing during the show and then excitedly debating the ending as they leave the theatre."

This play-within-a-play is based on the nineteenth century erotic novella Venus in Furs by the "father" of masochism himself, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. In the opening scene, Playwright/Director Thomas has become disheartened by the lack of suitable actresses that have auditioned for the female lead in his play, when in walks Vanda: an out-of-work actress who is the epitome of "wrong." As it turns out, Vanda is quite a bit more than she appears and an electrifying game of cat and mouse ensues between the two. Brought to life by the witty writing of David Ives, these complex characters share a dark and suspense-packed audition unparalleled by any other.

Venus in Fur is running in the Second Stage at PlayhouseSquare using a runway configuration for the very first time, allowing audiences to have a unique visual perspective.
