Isabelle Georges’ Oh là là! and International Song Fest at Gateway Lounge at the Copernicus Center

ISABELLE GEORGES “Oh la la” direct from Paris! a joyful combination of musical theatre, French songs, classical, jazz and Yiddish music

Parisian cabaret star Isabelle Georges returns to Chicago with her trademark soaring vocals and theatrical delivery. Michel Legrand’s muse will lead you on a passionate journey through the French repertoire and beyond, featuring the music of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Charles Aznavour and Charles Trenet along with original compositions, including a song by Maury Yeston. An unbeatable mixture of jazz, cabaret, and pop. “She’s every inch a star,” wrote The Scotsman.

Chicago music agent Barb Bailey gushes: Parisian Cabaret Singer, Dancer, Storyteller, Isabelle Georges and her Music Director, Frederik Steenbrink, are a Tour de Force unto themselves. Fueled with high energy, Isabelle’s performance casts a spell on her audience, begging the question, “Can it get any better than this?” Witty and enchanting – she turns on a dime, soaring into an impossible high note –then descending into a breathy, soft dynamic – a true triple threat that is undeniable. Isabelle’s passion and stories leave us transfixed. And Frederik’s compelling, imaginative arrangements foster her unpredictable, sometimes almost unattainable musical riffs that are the signature of a one-of-a-kind artist. Isabelle Georges and Frederik Steenbrink are a Master Class in live performance – the kind of entertainment you only see once in a lifetime! Accompanied by Frederik Steenbrink and the Kevin King combo.

The second set of the evening is Chicago Paris Cabaret Connexion’s International Song Fest, emceed and directed by Lou Ella Rose of SamaSama Project with a dozen singers offering songs in Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Créole, Tagalog, and possibly Polish (to honor our venue host Copernicus Center).
