The City of Elgin and The Hemmens Cultural Center are proud to announce the return of Broadway Star, Courtney Reed, to the Hemmens Stage for a concert on January 10th, 2025. Ms. Reed will be accompanied by the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.
Courtney first fell in love with theatre at the age of 6 performing on The Hemmens’ stage as a mouse in Cinderella with Children’s Theatre of Elgin. At the age of 12 she played Annie in the CTE/FVYTC production of Annie and she knew she wanted to pursue her career in acting from that moment on. She continued focusing on theatre in high school at the Larkin Visual and Performing Arts Academy with a focus on Drama. Her favorite roles were Lucy in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, and Rizzo in Grease.
Courtney Reed is best known for originating the role of ‘Princess Jasmine’ in Disney's smash Broadway hit Aladdin, in which she received a Grammy Nomination. She was last seen on Broadway as Satine, in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, a role she originated on the first national tour.
The Elgin Symphony Orchestra will be joining Courtney and the ESO is unmatched for a fun, relaxing, cultural experience. Now in its 75th season and under the direction of new Music Director, Chad Goodman, the ESO continues to delight audiences of all ages, year after year.
