“Piaf in Perspective” featuring Anne-Sophie Guerrier and Angélique Dessaint at The Alliance Francaise de Chicago

AnneSophie Guerrier began singing in the Paris metro in 2019, then established herself in Montmartre in 2021 as a street performer by creating “Montmartre en chansons,” sung tours blending heritage and French repertoire. After going viral in 2022 with a video viewed 3.8 million times, she represented ÎledeFrance in the Grand Concours des Régions (France 3), performed with an orchestra in a European tour tribute to Édith Piaf, and has since been developing new formats of musical tours, from the Marne to SaintGermaindesPrés. Angélique Dessaint’s passion began with dance, evolved into singing, spread to the theater (classical repertory to one-woman shows), broke into musicals, tested herself on the street, exposed herself to the camera, then returned to classrooms to entertain kids. Her ambition is to share a line, a note, an image, a laugh, an emotion. “Passion drives my boat and the encounters that make it glide along.”

Anne-Sophie Guerrier and Angélique Dessaint are joined direct from Paris by singer-songwriter-author (and once private secretary to Josephine Baker) Michèle Barbier, singer-songwriters Maryline Rollet and Louise Roy, pianist (from the Cabaret LapinAgile) Jean-Claude Orfali and accordionist Wilfried Touati. From Chicago: Claudia Hommel, Lou Ella Rose, and the Swingin’ Sisters. Directed by Jeanie Carroll from Las Vegas.
