Victory Gardens Theater has slated the following promotions and special events in association with its world premiere of Joel
Drake Johnson's dark family comedy Four Places, playing March 28-May 4, 2008 at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago.

Four Places-Four Restaurants Discount Promotion

Playing off the restaurant theme of Four Places, Victory Gardens has partnered with its four closest dining partners, all within walking distance of the Biograph–Clarke's Bar and Grille, Fiesta Mexicana, Simply It and Zig Zag Café–to offer these pre- or post-show discounts to Four Places ticket holders (day of show only):

Clarke's Bar and Grille, 2445 N. Lincoln Avenue–25% off your food order (no alcohol).

Fiesta Mexicana, 2423 N. Lincoln Avenue–one free appetizer (one per table).

Simply It, 2269 N. Lincoln Avenue–10% off dinner.

Zig Zag Café, 2436 N. Lincoln Avenue–One free cold appetizer with dinner.

In turn, throughout the five-week run of Four Places, each restaurant will give their customers a special discount voucher with their checks with a secret promo code for $10 off the price of a ticket to the play.

Four Places is a funny, touching story about a cantankerous, elderly "every mom," her two middle-aged children, and the dark family drama that unspools over the course of their usual lunch date at a local restaurant.

Cooking up indelible characters for the stage-outrageously funny, painfully human, and full of surprises-is acclaimed Chicago playwright
Joel Drake Johnson's specialty. His new dark comedy, Four Places, is no exception. Anyone who knows what it's like parenting his or her own aging parents will identify with the humor and heartbreak in Four Places. Set in a typical family restaurant in an unnamed Chicago suburb, Peggy's usual lunch date (and usual lunch drink) with her middle aged children Ellen and Warren turns from routine conversation to life changing revelation. Alternately sweet and acerbic, Peggy skillfully maneuvers throughout the meal to maintain control of her waning power.  Meanwhile, her adult children must come to grips with the fact that parents, at any age, have lives entirely independent of their children's.
