Showcases Some of Chicago's Finest Educators in

Teacher Tales: Stories from the Frontlines

Sunday, June 1, 2008

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is pleased to announce Teacher Tales: Stories from the Frontlines, the final show in its 2008 Traffic Series. The one-time performance, which explores the failures and victories that define Chicago's educators, will play Sunday, June 1, 2008 in the Steppenwolf Downstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted St.

In Teacher Tales: Stories from the Frontlines, Dr. Robert Boone and friends provide a look "behind the curtain" at the motivational moments that define teaching for some of Chicago's finest educators. From crashing failures to exhilarating victories, these teachers' tales will leave audience members with a new appreciation for the influential leaders in all our lives. Additional stories from Curie Youth Radio will provide funny and candid insight as teachers talk about themselves on tape.

Dr. Robert Boone is the founder of Young Chicago Authors, publishers of Say What Magazine and home of the highly acclaimed teen poetry festival "Louder Than A Bomb."  The production is directed by Steppenwolf's Director of the Traffic Arts Series Sylvia Ewing.

Traffic provides a vibrant platform for dialogue between our multi-generational audience and an eclectic pool of artists," comments Director of the Traffic Arts Series, Sylvia Ewing. "Traffic provides the opportunity for Steppenwolf to be a place where people come together for an experience that bridges entertainment and discovery, the familiar and the unknown."

Steppenwolf's Traffic Series brings together artists of all disciplines and casts them as storytellers in one night only presentations on the Steppenwolf stage. Traffic provides an intimate and unique intersection of language, lyrics, poetry and music, creating a fresh perspective on expressing the American story.

Chicago Public Radio (WBEZ 91.5 FM) records various one-night only Traffic events for later broadcast as part of its partnership with Steppenwolf.
