30 YEARS AT VICTORY GARDENS: A DISCUSSION WITH DENNIS ZACEK
& DIVVYING UP THE ESTATE: WHAT NOT TO DO ARE HUMANITIES NIGHT TOPICS FOR
RELATIVELY CLOSE

Saluting Dennis Zacek's 30 years as Artistic Director at Victory Gardens Theater, and a pre-show talk on how to avoid sibling infighting when divvying up the family estate, are the two pre-show Humanities Nights topics for Victory Gardens Theater's upcoming world premiere of James Sherman's new family comedy Relatively Close:

DIVVYING UP THE ESTATE: WHAT NOT TO DO
Thursday, June 12, 6 pm (7:30 pm curtain)
Special Guest: Attorney Bernard K. Weiler

Relatively Close is loaded with humor, but there's nothing funny about a family tearing itself apart about how to divvy up their parents' estate. Bernard K. Weiler, an Attorney with Mickey, Wilson, Weiler, Renzi & Andersson, P.C. in Aurora, will offer tips for preventing family conflicts, as he shares anecdotes about unusual family estate disputes he has personally mediated.

Zig Zag Café boxed dinners can be pre-ordered for $8.  Call Will Rogers at (773) 549-5788 ext. 2167 or email wrogers@victorygardens.org to reserve.

30 YEARS AT THE GARDENS: A DISCUSSION WITH DENNIS ZACEK

Thursday, June 19, 6 pm (7:30 pm curtain)

Special Guests: Former Chicago Tribune Chief Critic Richard Christiansen, Relatively Close playwright James Sherman. Relatively Close is the culmination of Victory Gardens Artistic Director Dennis Zacek's 30th anniversary season, and his twelfth new play collaboration with James Sherman.  To honor the occasion, former Chicago Tribune Chief Critic Richard Christiansen will lead a pre-show discussion with Sherman and Zacek to review their long artistic history at the Gardens.

Call Will Rogers, (773) 549-5788 ext. 2167 or email wrogers@victorygardens.org to reserve. Zig Zag Café boxed dinners are only $8.

Both pre-show events are free. Regular ticket prices to Relatively Close, $20-$45, still apply.

Ideal summer entertainment, Sherman's world premiere comedy Relatively Close, directed by Dennis Zacek, tells the story of three sisters who return to their family vacation home on the shores of Lake Michigan, where they spent their youth. Now the sisters are grown, the parents are gone, and the house is just sitting there. One sister wants to keep it, one wants to sell it, and the other just wants everyone to get along. With their respective spouses and one teenager in tow, will they even make it to the end of the week? Not likely!

Relatively Close begins previews June 6, 2008 at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago. Press opening is Monday, June 16 at 7:30 pm. Performances run through July 13. For tickets and information, call the Victory Gardens box office - (773) 871-3000 - or visit http://www.VictoryGardens.org

To encourage sisters to enjoy the show together, Victory Gardens is offering female siblings 2-for-1 tickets to previews of Relatively Close, June 6-15 only. Use promo code SISTERS when purchasing tickets by phone, in person, or online at http://www.VictoryGardens.org (offer not valid with any other promotion, or previously purchased tickets.)
