K'JON scored one of the most impressive R&B crossover debuts of the year when his new Universal Republic album "I Get Around" landed in the #1 spot on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in August. The eye-opening debut, which peaked at #12 on the Top Albums chart, is due in large part to the Detroit native's epic first single, "On The Ocean," which is one of 2009's smash hit dual-qualifiers - a certified radio and club smash.
Singing from the age of eight, K'JON had been dabbling in the business for years. What started out as a hobby was beginning to morph into a career. In 2004, he had the honor of having his song, "Miami," featured on the soundtrack for 2Fast 2Furious. He opened for everyone from Ludacris and Ne-Yo to Raheem DeVaughn.
What separates K'JON from his contemporaries, besides his lilting vocals, are the production values on I Get Around. You can hear acoustic guitar on the sweeping "Feels Like Love," and the grandeur of a theatrical ballad on "I'll Never Forget."
