Martin Short's Jiminy Glick to Interview Humpy Wheeler at Knight Theater

Martin Short performs his one-man show, An Evening with Martin Short, this Saturday, March 31, at 8 p.m., in Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts.

Short’s alter ego Talk show host Jiminy Glick will interview local NASCAR legend Humpy Wheeler in act two. Wheeler is the former president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway and well known for having a way with words himself. He’s just the guy to get into the fast lane with Jiminy.

Martin Short will surely tickle your funny bones with his sidesplitting new LIVE stage show. He is known for such memorable roles as the eccentric wedding planner Franck from Father of the Bride 1 & 2, countless appearances on Saturday Night Live and the hit movie The Three Amigoswhere he starred alongside Chevy Chase and Steve Martin. 
 
This time, Short takes the stage in the first act as a stand-up comedian, and his riotous show will include a dynamic combination of songs, video, bits and sketches about his life and career. 
 
In the second act he will resurrect one of his most beloved characters, Jiminy Glick (the world’s most obnoxious celebrity talk show host), and interview Humpy Wheeler for what will likely be one of Glick’s more memorable encounters with a racing legend.
 
In the words of Martin himself: “I’d say that this show is like a one man variety show. It’s as if Carol Burnett had done her show all by herself — it’s that approach. ‘A Party with Marty,’ I call it.”
