The Glimmerglass Festival has appoinTed Allen Perriello as the new Director of the Young Artists Program, and current Glimmerglass principal coach/accompanist Christopher Devlin has accepted the position of Head of Music Staff, effective immediately.

Perriello and Devlin join the company as Associate Artistic Director Michael Heaston departs to lead the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artists Program following the 2016 Festival.

"We are fortunate to have such talented artists and administrators as Allen and Christopher joining the Glimmerglass team to maintain our high musical standards," said Francesca Zambello, Glimmerglass Festival Artistic & General Director. "Opera is such a multi-faceted art form; it's necessary to have colleagues with a collaborative mentality. Both Allen and Christopher share this important quality, and I look forward to working with both of them."

Perriello is entering his fifth season at Arizona Opera as Head of Music and Director of the Marion Roose Pullin Opera Studio. He oversees the musical preparation of all mainstage productions, as well as the selection and training of the Studio Artists. He has been coaching young opera artists since 2006 with such companies as Pittsburgh Opera, Seattle Opera, San Francisco Opera and Boston Lyric Opera. Other previous engagements include Opera Santa Barbara, Opera Cleveland, and Ash Lawn Opera. Perriello also appears in recitals, master classes, and as a judge in vocal competitions. A native of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, Perriello holds a master's degree in collaborative piano from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a bachelor's degree in piano performance and music education from Ithaca College.

Devlin has been a principal coach/accompanist with The Glimmerglass Festival since 2012 and has served as vocal coach at Montreal's McGill University, The Dallas Opera, Connecticut Opera, Fort Worth Opera and Opera Atelier of Toronto. In recital, Devlin has been recorded by Canada's CBC national radio, with soprano Maria Pellegrini and baritone Andrew Garland. As part of his recital series in the Middle East with mezzo-soprano Julie Nesrallah, Devlin performed for the Jordanian royal family in Amman. In the United States and Canada, he has appeared in recital with artists including Frederick Burchinal, Mary Dunleavy and Denyce Graves. The Vancouver native studied at University of Ottawa and McGill University.

The 2016 Glimmerglass Festival runs through August 27 with mainstage productions of Puccini's La bohème, Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, Rossini's The Thieving Magpie and Robert Ward's Pulitzer-Prize-winning opera The Crucible. The mainstage productions are accompanied by many concerts, lectures, backstage tours and more. Visit www.glimmerglass.org for more information.
