Simply Streisand Comes To Philipstown Depot Theatre 1/15

Simply Streisand, New York's long-running hit revue, will make a special, one night only appearance in Putnam County on Sunday, January 15th at 7pm at the Philipstown Depot Theatre, located on Garrison's Landing in Garrison, NY. Notably, the Philipstown Depot Theatre, a former train station, and the immediately surrounding area, was the filming location for the Yonkers scenes in the film, Hello, Dolly! which starred Ms. Streisand.

SIMPLY STREISAND is a celebration of Ms. Barbra Streisand, her legendary career and the music she made famous. At Simply Streisand, you'll hear music that spans her legendary career, from the tunes she belted out in the small nightclubs of New York, to her 70's disco-infused period, straight through to the mega ballads that have come to define her work.

Included in the cast of Simply Streisand: Lisa Asher (MAC/Bistro/Nightlife Award-winning cabaret artist), Julie Heckert (Depot's A Little Night Music, The Secret Garden, Gleeful), Colleen McHugh (Bistro Award-winning cabaret artist), Molly Pope (Our Hit Parade at Joe's Pub, star of Introducing Molly Pope), Lisa Sabin (Depot's Gleeful, NYC & San Francisco cabaret artist), Lucia Spina (Broadway's Les Miserables, 25th Annual Putnam Co. Spelling Bee, Legally Blonde, South Pacific) and Jessica Vosk (Lincoln Center's Company, Encores! Merrily We Roll Along). The evening is hosted by Director Phil Geoffrey Bond, who will fill the audience in on special Streisand facts, rumors, tidbits, video clips and out and out gossip. Musical Direction is by Ray Fellman. Simply Streisand enjoyed a celebrated and critically acclaimed run at New York's Laurie Beechman Theatre throughout 2011.

Streisand has personally raised 25 million dollars for organizations through her live performances alone. The Streisand Foundation, established in 1986, has contributed over 16 million dollars through nearly 1,000 grants to "national organizations working on preservation of the environment, voter education, the protection of civil liberties and civil rights, women's issues and nuclear disarmament." In 2006, Streisand personally donated $1 million dollars to the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation in support of former President Bill Clinton's climate change initiative. In 2008, Streisand gifted $5 million dollars to endow the Barbra Streisand Women's Cardiovascular Research and Education Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Women's Heart Center.
