Geva Theatre Center's 2011-2012 Season continues with a comedy - Perfect Wedding by Robin Hawdon, which began performances on January 10 and runs in the Elaine P. Wilson Mainstage through February 12.

In April 2011, the world basked in the glory of a romantic fairytale-come-true, where a lovely girl married her Prince Charming. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Geva Theatre Center presents the "un-fairytale-like" Perfect Wedding, a hysterical British romp full of mistaken identity, slamming doors and comedy of a most desperate kind!

On the morning of his wedding, Bill wakes up in his honeymoon suite with a dreadful hangover and an unknown woman in his bed. It's a race against time as he has to either get her out or make up a plausible story before his fiancée and future mother-in-law arrive. Desperate times call for desperate measures in this hysterical romp!

Playwright Robin Hawdon has had an extremely varied career. From novelist and West End playwright, to soap actor, film star and classical actor, to director of one of England's foremost theatres, his activities have spanned numerous aspects of the arts. His early plays Barn Dance, The Secret and The Hero were performed at the Edinburgh and Salzburg Festivals and his first major commercial success, The Mating Game, achieved a long run at London's Apollo Theatre and has played in over thirty countries around the world. This was followed by other much performed plays such as Birthday Suite, Revenge, Don't Rock the Boat and Perfect Wedding. Don't Dress for Dinner (based on an early French play by Marc Camoletti), ran in the West End for six years and has played all over the US, Australia Canada and the English-speaking world.

Making their Geva Theatre Center debuts are Cary Donaldson (Bill), Tom Coiner (Tom), Teri Watts (Rachel), and Kate Middleton (Judy). Returning to Geva are Brigitt Markusfeld (Daphne), and Kristen Mengelkoch (Julie). Ms Markusfeld last appeared on the Geva Mainstage as Ellen in Over the Tavern and Ms. Mengelkoch as Ethel Toffelmier in The Music Man.

Perfect Wedding is directed by Bruce Jordan who returns to Geva where he directed Neil Simon's The Good Doctor, D.H. Lawrence's The Daughter-in-Law, Noël Coward's Fumed Oak, Steve Martin's The Underpants and Shear Madness, which he and partner Marilyn Abrams adapted from Paul Portner's Scherenschnitt. Since its debut in 1978, Shear Madness has become the longest running, off-Broadway show in American Theatre history and has entertained over 9 million people world-wide, including here at Geva where it was produced during the 2005-2006 season.

The design team for Perfect Wedding includes Bill Clarke (scenic design), Mimi Maxmen (costume design), Derek Madonia (lighting design) and Dan Roach (sound design).
Perfect Wedding is Co-Produced by Key Bank, Rockcastle Florist and Tasteful Connections Catering. Media Sponsor is The Drive FM.
