Abingdon Theatre Company presents a new play by Cris Eli Blak, focusing on the life of Bobby Short, an iconic figure in cabaret known for his interpretations of the Great American Songbook. Short, who performed at Café Carlyle for over three decades, made his mark as a gifted singer, pianist, and philanthropist, famously celebrating the works of composers like Cole Porter and George Gershwin. The production aims to reintroduce Short’s legacy to a contemporary audience while celebrating his contributions to music and performance. The show is part of Abingdon's 33rd season, highlighting the company's commitment to developing new American works.
