Brazilian music master João Bosco celebrates his 80th birthday with a week-long engagement at Birdland Jazz Club, bringing with him over 50 years of performance experience, 31 albums, a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and two Latin Grammy wins. His career spans the full breadth of Brazilian song—samba, bossa nova, and jazz—with celebrated compositions including "O Bêbado e a Equilibrista" and "Kid Cavaquinho," and collaborations with Joao Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Vinicius de Moraes. Reedist Anat Cohen joins Bosco on most nights of the run.
