Amir ElSaffar's New Quartet brings trumpet, drums, saxophone and piano together in music blending Arab Maqām microtones with jazz influences. Akram Abdulfattah, a Palestinian-American violinist and composer, performs genre-defying music rooted in instrumental storytelling with Indian, Turkish, Persian, jazz, rock and funk influences.
