As first reported on TVLine.com, Broadway star Will Chase will make a guest appearance on an upcoming episode of USA Network's dramedy NECESSARY ROUGHNESS. The former 'Smash' star will portray an "erstwhile rock god."

Chase will be joined by 'Third Watch' star Josh Hamilton in the episode in which the duo will portray ex-bandmates who seek out the aid of Dr. Dani to resolve their relationship issues before they set out for a fictional reunion tour.

The episode will air during the second half of the show's second season sometime this winter. Necessary Roughness airs Wednesday at 10/9c on USA Network.

Chase recently appeared on the first season of NBC's musical hit Smash. The show announced in May that he and fellow co-stars Jaime Cepero, Raza Jaffrey and Brian D'Arcy James would not be returning a second season. The actor was most recently seen on Broadway in Billy Elliot. His other Broadway credits include starring roles in Rent, Aida, Lennon, High Fidelity, The Story of My Life, Miss Saigon and The Full Monty. His recent television appearances include the  Pan Am, Rescue Me, Royal Pains and Law and Order Criminal Intent.
