Sigourney Weaver is in negotiations to star in the thriller 'The Cold Light of Day,' The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog reports.  The film will also star Bruce Willis and Henry Cavill.

The film, which is due to begin filming in September, will be directed by Mabrouk El Mechri.  Weaver is in negotiations to play the villain of the story, in which a Wall Street trader must deal with a government conspiracy and family secrets in order to save his kidnapped loved ones, Heat Vision reports.

Weaver is best known for her appearances as Ellen Ripley in the 'Alien' films. Her other film credits include 'Gorillas in the Mist,' 'The Ice Storm,' 'Working Girl,' 'Holes,' and 'Avatar.' Weaver has been nominated for Academy Awards for her performances in 'Aliens,' 'Gorillas in the Mist,' and 'Working Girl' and won Golden Globes for the latter two performances. She has appeared on Broadway in SEX AND LONGING and HURLYBURLY, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award.
