At last weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. confirmed a sequel to its summer mega-hit WONDER WOMAN. This week, the studio has confirmed to ET that the superhero pic will arrive in theaters on December 13, 2019. Although a director has not officially been chosen, there have been reports that Patty Jenkins, who helmed the first installment, will return for the second. In addition, Gal Gadot will once again take on the titular role.

Thus far this summer, WONDER WOMAN has taken in over $769.7 million worldwide so far, and marks the highest-grossing live-action film directed by a woman. Last month, a source revealed to ET that Jenkins was in the process of penning a script for the sequel which will reportedly be set in the U.S.

While two and a half years is a long time to wait for the female superhero to return to the big screen solo, the character will appear in Zack Snyder's upcoming JUSICE LEAGUE, in theaters on November 17th.
