WWTNS? Announces BEAUTY FREAK

What Will The Neighbors Say? is excited to announce the workshop production of Founding Co-Artistic Director James Clements' latest play, Beauty Freak: Leni Riefenstahl's 'Olympia,' this November. The production will officially inaugurate the company's 2018-2019 season at the Plaxall Gallery in Long Island City, currently home to the Long Island City Artists (LIC-A) group and one of the pioneering arts spaces in Queens, following a week long development workshop in the space. The performances will be held on November 10th and 11th at 7.30pm, at the Plaxall Gallery, 5-25 46th Ave, NY 11101 (entry through the parking lot) and tickets are available at www.wwtns.org.

With Beauty Freak, Clements continues to analyse and re-contextualize complex figures and events from the last century, following his acclaimed thriller about Princess Diana, The Diana Tapes (2016), his Romanov drama, Four Sisters (2017), and his World Trade Centre choreopoem Constructing Freedom (2015). This piece explores the life and legacy of German filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl, whose revolutionary talent as an artist was controversially put at the service of the Nazi regime, with catastrophic consequences. The workshop will be produced by WWTNS? Co-Artistic Directors Clements, Ana Cristina Schuler, Jorge Morales-Picó and Sam Hood Adrain, with Morales-Picó designing projections and sound. The cast and creative team for the workshop will be announced shortly.

LIC Artists, Inc. (LIC-A), is a 501(c)3 non-profit arts advocacy organization founded in 1986 by artists in Long Island City. LIC-A presents monthly exhibitions, art classes, theatrical productions, dance and music performances and special events. www.licartists.org
