Vera Farmiga and Jon Bernthal Join SOPRANOS Prequel

Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga have joined the cast of the prequel movie to the HBO series "The Sopranos," according to Variety. The New Line prequel is titled "The Many Saints of Newark."

The film's lot details are vague, but the film is being set during the Newark riots in the '60s. Alessandro Nivola has been cast to play Dickie Moltisanti. Bernthal and Farmiga roles have yet to be revealed.

"Sopranos" series creator David Chase co-wrote the film's script with producer Lawrence Konner. "The Many Saints of Newark" is being directed by Alan Taylor, while Nicole Lambert and Marcus Viscidi will serve as executive producers.

Bernthal is best known for starring in the Netflix series "The Punisher," which returns for a second season this January. He will be seen next in the indie film, "Peanut Butter Falcon" and the untitled Ford vs. Ferrari movie.

Farmiga recently starred with Hugh Jackman in "The Front Runner." She will be seen next in "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" and "Captive State." She is currently filming the Netflix series "Central Park Five."
