This Tuesday marks the season finale of Discovery's critically-acclaimed series "Manhunt: UNABOMBER." But just how did FBI Agent and Criminal Profiler Jim "Fitz" Fitzgerald actually convince Ted Kaczynski to plead guilty? MANHUNT: UNABOMBER - Season Finale premieres Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 10 PM ET/PT on Discovery. Check out a sneak peek below!

Ted Kaczynski is confident that he and his lawyer Judy Clarke will be successful in their challenge to Fitz's search warrant, thereby invalidating all evidence against Ted and winning him an acquittal. Fitz is ready to defend his work, and heartened by the presence of Natalie Rogers by his side in the courtroom. But when the judge dismisses Ted's challenge, Ted is left reeling. Meanwhile, Fitz suspects something strange is going on with Ted's defense team. After some investigation, Fitz confronts Ted with his conclusions: unbeknownst to Ted, his own lawyers are planning to enter an insanity defense for Ted. Fitz takes Ted to a warehouse to show him that Ted's lawyers have had his cabin transported there, one facet of their planned insanity defense. Fitz argues that if Ted continues to fight his conviction, his own lawyers will portray him as insane and all his ideas -- the ideas of the Manifesto, which have had such resonance with Fitz -- will be invalidated. A guilty plea is the only way Ted's ideas will live on.

Ted investigates, and soon discovers that Judy Clarke and his other lawyers have indeed been acting against him. Feeling trapped, Ted tries to hang himself in his cell. When this attempt fails, he finally agrees to plead guilty. At Ted's sentencing, Ted's victims and their families speak for the first time, sharing emotional stories of how Ted's bombs have impacted their lives. Ted, broken and defeated, is sentenced to life imprisonment in a maximum security federal prison. Fitz and Natalie leave the courthouse, in love and enthusiastic about their future together. But Ted's predictions about the future of humanity will continue to weigh on them both.
