On last night's season premiere episode, SNL took on the girls of HBO's GIRLS - offering a glimpse at the show's upcoming third season...which features a new addition to the cast....it's a HILARIOUS must watch.

So what'd GIRLS creator Lena Dunham think? On Twitter, she wrote:

Very excited about the current lineup of SNL ladies. They are funny like whoa.

and

The SNL parody of Girls was a true honor.

Guess she liked it as much as we did! Lena Dunham announced via Instagtam on September 6, 2013, that production for the third season of GIRLS had concluded and Season 3 is scheduled to premiere in 2014, with no date announced yet.

Former SNL player Tina Fey was joined by Arcade Fire as the featured musical guest on the Sept. 28 season premiere.

Since its inception in 1975, "SNL" has launched the careers of many of the brightest comedy performers of their generation; and, as The New York Times noted on the occasion of the show's Emmy-winning 25th Anniversary special in 1999: "In Defiance of both time and show business convention, 'SNL' is still the most pervasive influence on the art of comedy in contemporary culture." At the close of the century, "Saturday Night Live" placed seventh on Entertainment Weekly's list of the Top 100 Entertainers of the past fifty years.
