VIDEO: Conan O'Brien Reacts On-Air to News of Robin Williams Passing

TBS late night host Conan O'Brien took a few minutes at the end of the live taping of yesterday's show to share the tragic news of Robin Williams passing with the studio audience.

"This is unusual and upsetting," began O'Brien, "but we got some news during the show that Robin Williams has passed away." He went on to apologize to the audience for being the bearer of such tragic news, sharing, "This is absolutely shocking and horrifying on every level."

Later in the show, 'Conan' sidekick Andy Richter and O'Brien's guest, actor Will Arnett, shared their thoughts on the tragedy. "Funny as he was he is known for being one of the all-time greats," began Arnett. "But he was even better as a person. He was even more fantastic. He was just the loveliest, sweetest, kindest guy that I've ever worked with. Such a soft, warm, emotionally sweet guy. It's a major, major loss for everybody."

Describing itself as a traditional late-night talk show, Conan draws its comedy from recent news stories, political figures and prominent celebrities, as well as aspects of the show itself. The show typically opens with a monologue from Conan O'Brien relating to recent headlines and frequently features exchanges with his sidekick, Andy Richter, and members of the audience.
