UPROXX Original Series LUMINARIES Receives Webby Awards Nomination

Woven Digital, has learned that the pilot episode of Luminaries, an UPROXX original series has been selected as a nominee for the 19 th Annual Webby Awards in the Online Video: Science & Education category. This is the company's first Webby Award nomination and Luminaires is the first in a slate of original content created and distributed by Woven Studios.

"Luminaries was a huge leap into original content for Woven and UPROXX and we are thrilled to receive such a positive response," said Benjamin Blank, creator of Luminaries and Chief Creative Officer at Woven. Luminaries follows young, talented innovators on their road to technological breakthroughs. The pilot episode, which highlights the talents of 19-year-old Easton LaChappelle as he builds a cheaper, better prosthetic limb, launched its first episode on January 12, 2015. The episode has already been viewed by more than 8.4 million people and shared nearly 180,000 times.

The public has a chance to cast their votes for their pick of the best of the Internet at http://pv.webbyawards.com. Voting for the Webby People's Voice Awards is open from now until Thursday, April 23, 2015. Academy members, including CONAN O'Brien, Tumblr founder David Karp, Arianna Huffington, Youtube sensation and video artist Freddie Wong, Internet inventor Vint Cerf, and DoSomething.org founder Nancy Lublin, will select this year's Webby Awards Winners, to be announced Monday, April 27.

The second episode of Luminaries, which tells the journey of Kai Kloepfer of Boulder, Colorado, launched earlier today. Kai is the inventor of biometric electromechanical firearm safety, which uses fingerprint recognition to lock or unlock a gun. The episode is available on UPROXX.com and YouTube.
