UNDER THE DOME Premiere Delivers 13 + Million Viewers for CBS

CBS premiere of UNDER THE DOME, based on the bestselling novel by acclaimed author Stephen King and produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television, delivered 13.14 million viewers, the most-watched summer drama premiere on any network since 1992, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Monday, June 24.

The premiere of UNDER THE DOME, broadcast against NBC's final game of the Stanley Cup Finals (Boston Bruins vs. Chicago Blackhawks), averaged 13.14 million viewers, 3.2/09 in adults 18-49 and 4.3/11 in adults 25-54.

This is the most-watched summer drama premiere broadcast on any network since 1992 (CBS's "2000 Malibu Road"). In addition, UNDER THE DOME delivered CBS's largest audience among any genre for a summer series premiere since 2000 ("Big Brother"). It was also the best delivery in adults 18-49 among any genre, for a summer series premiere on CBS since June 7, 2005 ("Fire Me").

Among all broadcast network drama series premieres this television year, UNDER THE DOME posted the second-highest adult 18-49 rating (tied with "The Following") and adults 25-54 ratings.

UNDER THE DOME, a new 13-episode serialized drama based on Stephen King's bestselling novel, is the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town's inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers about the dome, where it came from and if and when it will go away.
