Fans of Tom Hiddleston have launched a petition in support of a feature length film featuring Loki, the villain whom the actor portrayed in Thor, The Avengers and the upcoming Thor: The Dark World. According to EW, organizers of the "Free Loki" Change.org petition have collected nearly 20,000 signatures.

"We feel Loki...due to the astounding following both the character and actor have earned as a result of the Marvel films, more than warrants further exploration of his story," the petition states. "We believe such an endeavor would not only be profitable and successful, but provide a larger view for general audiences of the incredibly complex and diverse personality a well-known villain of the Marvel universe is gifted with."

Last month, Hiddleston disappointed fans by revealing that the Asgardian character will not be featured in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Hiddleston's stage credits include Donmar Warehouse's production of Othello, directed by Michael Grandage and acted alongside Ewan McGregor. Hiddleston has also appeared in the West End revival of Ivanov, The Children's Monologues at The Old Vic and The Kingdom of Earth at Criterion Theatre.

The actor's film appearances include Thor, War Horse, The Avengers, The Deep Blue Sea, Midnight in Paris and the upcoming Thor: The Dark World. His TV credits include Wallander, Suburban Shootout, Return to Cranford and more.
