Critics John Heilpern of The New York Observer, Mike Kuchwara of The Associated Press and Jacques le Sourd of CBS radio, discuss the profound impact of the economy on their profession and whether professional drama critics are, in Riedel's words, "doomed."

This program was taped 4 days after le Sourd, the theater critic at Gannett Newspapers for 35 years, was laid off. (The company is not planning to replace him, but will eliminate his position.)

The group also discusses a handful of notable productions that opened in New York City this season.

This episode of Theater Talk premieres on CUNY TV (channel 75 on NYC cable) Saturday, December 13 at 8:30 PM on CUNY TV. It will also air on CUNY: Sunday, December 14 at 12:30 PM, as well as Monday December 15 at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM and 12:30 PM. It will also air Friday January 9 at 1 AM on Thirteen, be syndicated on select public television stations throughout the country and available for  i tunes and streaming at www.theatertalk.org

Theater Talk, the series devoted to the world of the stage, is co-hosted by Michael Riedel (Broadway columnist for the New York Post) and series producer Susan Haskins.
