Executive Producer, Quan Phung, Velvet Candy Entertainment, and Wait, What! Productions are have announced the release of the feature film, The Mikado Project, on DVD, available for purchase on Amazon.com on January 12, 2012.

The Mikado Project, which stars Tamlyn Tomita (Glee, Joy Luck Club, Tekken), Rizwan Manji (Outsourced, Better Off Ted), Gerald McCullouch (CSI, Bear City), David McInnis (Never Forever, Typhoon), Allen C. Liu (Flower Drum Song Revival OBC B’way, Pushing Daisies), Yuri Tag (Kabba Modern/America’s Best Dance Crew Season 1), Raymond J. Lee (Mamma Mia Bway, Anything Goes OBC B’way Revival), Erin Quill (OBC Avenue Q, The 2-2), Freda Foh Shen (Mulan) and Ryun Yu (Kissing Cousins) – looks at a struggling Asian American theater company who grapple with mounting a production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Mikado”, to get their NEA Grant and save the company.

Based on an original play by Ken Narasaki and Doris Baizley, and adapted for the screen by Chil Kong, Erin Quill, and Ryun Yu – The Mikado Project deals with the humor of working with those you love, on a project you very well may hate.

Directed by CHIL KONG (Lost, HBO’s Too Big to Fail, Crossing Over), who based the film on his experiences as an Artistic Director of Lodestone Theatre Ensemble in Los Angeles over a decade, the film is an 'homage to struggling Asian American theater companies across the country who write the grants, put up work, and every season have to push the boulder up the mountain again like Sisphyus being punished by the Gods"
