Telemundo Begins Extensive RIO 2016 Coverage with Olympic Soccer Draw, Today

Telemundo will begin its extensive Rio 2016 coverage with the Olympic soccer draw this Thursday, April 14. Legendary sportscaster Andrés Cantor will be on location in Rio de Janeiro to bring fans the latest information that night on "Titulares y Más" at 11:35PM/10:35C and on "Titulares Telemundo" Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 at 11:30PM/10:30C or following local newscasts. In addition, NBCDeportes.com digital platforms will feature frequent updates the day of the draw.

The April 14 event will determine the composition of each group in the Olympic soccer tournament as well as the schedule for the first round of play for all teams, including current Olympic Men's Gold Medal team, Mexico. All of this information will be available on NBCDeportes.com on Thursday, April 14 and on that evening's broadcast of "Titulares y Más" (11:35PM/10:35C). Andrés Cantor will follow up from Rio de Janeiro with an analysis of the groups and participating teams on "Titulares Telemundo" on Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17 at 11:30PM/10:30C or following local newscasts.

The 16 men's soccer teams will be divided into four groups of four teams each (Groups A-D), drawing from the following pots:

Pot 1: Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Japan

Pot 2: Nigeria, Korea Republic, Honduras, Iraq

Pot 3: Sweden, Fiji, Portugal, South Africa

Pot 4: Algeria, Colombia, Denmark, Germany

The women's tournament will feature 12 teams in three groups of four (Groups E-G):

Pot 1: Brazil, United States, Germany

Pot 2: France, Australia, Sweden

Pot 3: Canada, China PR, New Zealand

Pot 4: Colombia, South Africa, Zimbabwe

This special coverage of the soccer draw is a lead-up to the April 27 "100 Days" celebration marking the countdown to Rio 2016 on TELEMUNDO, NBC UNIVERSO and NBCDeportes.com, which will feature unprecedented reporting on the preparations for the Summer Olympics.
