Taylor Kinney to Star in NBC Drama Pilot CHICAGO FIRE

As first reported on Deadline.com, actor Taylor Kinney will be starring in the Dick Wolf-produced NBC drama pilot CHICAGO FIRE.  

Kinney, best known for his role on 'The Vampire Diaries', will star in the action series which centers on the "complex and heroic men and women of the Chicago Fire Department." Kinney will portray Squad Lieutenant Kelly Severide, the head of an elite team of firemen who are called in for only the most dangerous fires and rescue situations. 

The actor will join previously announced cast member Eamonn Walker, who will play the Captain of the squad. Michael Brand and Derek Haas penned the script and Jeffrey Nachmanoff will serve as the show's director. 

Kinney's other TV credits include the 2009 medical drama 'Trauma'.
