Legendary physicist Stephen Hawking passed away yesterday morning. Eddie Redmayne, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of young Stephen Hawking in the film The Theory of Everything, also paid his respects in a statement: "We have lost a truly beautiful mind, an astonishing scientist and the funniest man I have ever had the pleasure to meet. My love and thoughts are with his extraordinary family."

Written by Anthony McCarten and inspired by the Jane Hawking's memoir Travelling to Infinity: My life with Stephen, the film is described as a "love story between the Cambridge cosmology student and Jane Wilde, the arts student he fell in love with at University in the 1960s."
