THE ROYALS Fires Showrunner Mark Schwahn After Sexual Assault Allegations

The Royals showrunner, Mark Schwahn has been officially fired after a number of women came forward to accuse Schwahn of sexual harassment on the set of the E! drama, as well as his show, One Tree Hill.

A spokesperson for the series stated, "We have concluded our investigation and Mark will not be returning to The Royals, The fourth season of the show has already completed production and will air as scheduled on E! in the spring."

Eighteen women sent a letter to Variety last month accusing Schwann of manipulating them "psychologically and emotionally" putting them in uncomfortable situations. A second letter was issued from 25 women working on THE ROYALS who echoed the similar complaints.

"The Royals" is co-produced by Lionsgate and Universal Cable Productions. The series is executive produced, written and directed by Mark Schwahn ("One Tree Hill"), and executive produced by Brian Robbins, Joe Davola ("One Tree Hill," "Smallville"), and Shauna Phelan. "The Royals" stars Elizabeth Hurley ("Queen Helena"), William Moseley ("Prince Liam"), Alexandra Park ("Princess Eleanor"), Jake Maskall ("King Cyrus"), Tom Austen ("Jasper"), Max Brown ("Prince Robert") and Genevieve Gaunt ("Wilhelmina").
