According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Office's' Mindy Kaling has been given the greenlight for a yet untitled comedy pilot for the Fox network. The actress will write, executive produce and star in the potential series.

The pilot will tell the story of "a 'Bridget Jones-like' doctor trying to navigate her personal and professional lives." If Kaling's pilot is picked up by the Fox network, she would exit her current sitcom on NBC.

The NBC network reportedly had first dibs on the project from Universal TV, but passed on the opportunity. NBC has already announced that it has picked up more than 10 comedy pilots for the upcoming season. Recently, NBC announced plans for a potential 'Office' spin-off starring Rainn Wilson's character Dwight Schrute as the owner of a family-run bed and breakfast.
