The worldwide hit "La Reina del Sur," featuring the extraordinary and unforgettable story of Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo), returns to Telemundo. The original production became Telemundo's most successful novela in the network's history, reaching 16.6 million total viewers during its original on-air run.

Produced in high definition by Telemundo Studios and RTI, "La Reina del Sur" was filmed on location in Morocco, Mexico, Spain and Colombia. The highly-rated blockbuster, features a stellar cast that includes Kate del Castillo, Humberto Zurita, Rafael Amaya, Iván Sánchez, Cristina Urgel, Alberto Jiménez, Miguel de Miguel, Gabriel Porras, Sara Maldonado, Nacho Fresneda, Mónica Estarreado, Cuca Escribano, Carmen Navarro, Alejandro Calva, Dagoberto Gama, Salvador Zerboni, Christian Tappán, Eduardo Velasco, Alfonso Vallejo, Lorena Santos, Pablo Castañón, Mighello Blanco, Juan José Arjona, Klaus and Santiago Menéndez.

ABOUT LA REINA DEL SUR

"La Reina del Sur" tells the story of Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo), a girl from a poor family in Sinaloa, Mexico whose life changes drastically after she falls in love with the wrong man, El Güero Dávila (Rafael Amaya), a Mexican-American pilot from San Antonio who runs drugs for a cartel led by the powerful Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita).

ABOUT KATE DEL CASTILLO

Kate del Castillo has risen to the top ranks of Hispanic actresses in the United States, and People en Español recently selected her for the cover of its "25 Most Powerful Women" issue. She has more than 50 motion picture and television series among her credits, including "Under the Same Moon" (one of the two highest-grossing Spanish-language theatrical releases in U.S. history). Del Castillo also guest starred in six episodes of the hit comedy series "Weeds." She began her acting career as a child, but it wasn't until the enormously successful telenovela "Muchachitas" that she became a full-fledged star in Mexico. More recently, Kate broke into the US Hispanic Market with the hit drama series "La Reina del Sur" in Telemundo. Her popular telenovelas have aired multiple times in more than 100 countries worldwide. Kate has been the Ambassador for Human Rights in Mexico against Human Trafficking for several years.
