As first reported on Deadline.com, director Steven Spielberg is in talks to direct the upcoming GODS AND KINGS, an epic film described as "'Braveheart'-ish version of the Moses story" mixed with the "gritty reality" of "Saving Private Ryan." The film comes from Warner Brothers studios.

According to the report, the studio has been after the award-winning director for months to helm their upcoming film and it appears that Spielberg will be ready to take on the project next spring. The director just completed filming on the upcoming 'Lincoln' and is ready to begin shooting 'Robopocalypse'. This latest project would probably begin filming sometime in March or April of 2013.

The epic film, which will depict the life of the biblical leader Moses is one of many bible-themed movies in the works. Darren Aronofsky is currently filming a Noah's Ark picture while actor Mel Gibson is planning a movie on the Jewish warrior Judah Maccabee.
