As first reported on Deadline.com, actor Stephen Amell is set to play the lead role in the upcoming CW series ARROW.

Amell will star as vigilante superhero The Green Arrow, who uses archery and high tech to fight crime. He lives under the secret identity of Oliver Queen, a billionaire playboy who lives in Starling City.  Queen's character was believed to be dead for five years, and his reappearance to the city is a shock for his mother, Moira.

Amell is the second actor to portray the super hero character Green Arrow. In the series 'Smallville' the role was played by Justin Hartley.

In addition to Amell, the series will also feature Dinah Laurel Lance.

Amell was most recently seen on TV on The CW's 'The Vampire Diaries' and 90210. He has guest starred on HBO’s Hung and ABC’s Private Practice.
