Deadline reports that Sony Pictures and David Gordon Green are planning to adapt Laura Ingalls Wilder's classic book series LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE to a feature film. Abi Morgan (Shame, The Iron Lady) will pen the script.

The nine-book series was first published in 1932 beginning with "Little House in the Big Woods", which told the story of  Wilder's own recollections of growing up with her family in a log cabin in 1871. The second book was titled "Little House on the Prairie." The story was adapted into a television series which ran from 1974 to 1984. The series starred Michael Landon, and Melissa Gilbert as Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Green, who will direct the film, most recently helmed The Sitter.
