Sony Pushes WHITE BOY RICK Release Starring Matthew McConaughey Eight Months

Variety has reported that the new Sony film WHITE BOY RICK is being released eight months back from original release. It was slated for January 26, but is now pushed until August 17. Read the full Variety article here!

The film stars Matthew McConaughey and newcomer Richie Merritt. Set in Detroit, the film takes place 1980s during the crack epidemic. Also slated to star in the film are Brian Tyree Henry, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rory Cochrane, Bruce Dern, Piper Laurie and Bel Powley.

Richie Merritt was discovered and cast in the role after a talent search that spanned across the nation. That was announced earlier this year. Read more about that in Variety here!
