As first reported on Deadline.com, Showtime is developing a new drama series based on the upcoming novel, THE ANGRY BUDDHIST by 'Big Love' author Seth Greenland. The series will explore " family dynamics, deception, crime and politics." Greenland will pen the series adaptation and will serve as executive producer along with  David Kanter.

The series will have "dark comedy elements" and will take place in the trailer park environment of Palm Springs, CA. It will follow the story of three brothers: a cop studying Buddhism, a criminal and a scheming U.S. Congressman running for his third term.

Greenland's novel is set to come out in the U.S. next Tuesday and has already been made available in France. The author's debut novel, 'The Bones', was optioned by Sony. The movie rights to his second novel, 'Shining City', were bought by Warner Bros.
